I have picked my next job (it's in a trendy, fun part of tokyo and i get my own lil' apt.), I'm in loooove, and I still don't have my own PC, so I won't be posting here for a while yet.

Thursday, May 24, 2001

i had completely forgotten about it, but now i am suddenly filled w/an intense desire to know what happened on Dawson's. please tell me!!

Tuesday, May 22, 2001

so i have officially told my boss i am quitting, and i should be out of here within a month. time to find a new job!

Friday, May 18, 2001

yay melissa! i put your pic in 4 u. I am blowing this popsical stand 4 the weekend and going to tokyo to see laura. woo! no more mucus til tuesday! i am super giddy today because i got a lovely email from my prof. glover! woo! and i still hate my job, but whatever.

Friday, May 11, 2001

my god, the mucus...they say that the human body is 80% water, but i think in the case of 3 yr olds, it's 80% mucus. and one girl almost peed on me yesterday. so much bodily fluid. yerch. but i took a walk today, and realized its really rather gorgeous here. the air is tasty and there are poppies and various wildflowers all over the place. now if only i can get used to the damn chickens squawking all day long. they are so ugly and ridiculous i don't feel bad about eating them anymore. i'm going over to a co-worker's house tomorrow to look at kittens...i may bring one home.

if it's any consolation jamie, i'm debating whether i want this job or not also. i hate it here. the school itself is crazy stressful, but the town is utterly inconvenient and next to absolutely nothing. i haven't signed a contract yet, so i'll have to decide quick if i can actual survive this epitome of loneliness and stress.

Hi all. I temporarily have internet access, but only for tonight. Yes, I did get 1st class, and it was pretty darn fabulous. So spacious--and such extravagant food. I'm still in tokyo, I won't be going to where I work until the 8th. I just consumed part of a 300 dollar bottle of sake, so I'm a lil' giddy right now. It's really complicated using a keypad designed for a japanese user-- everything except for the alphabet is in a different place. Will write more later.

Wow Sara, that sentence is spectacularly scintillating and superbly structured. Well, since the internet is universal, you can continue to email me at the same address. Though I'm traveling thousands of miles a-way, in the virtual world I am stationary. Gee, that sounded kinda deep.

Okay, so I really will stop fidgeting w/this layout now. I just want the page to be something you won't get sick of too quickly because I don't know when I'll be able to edit it again. The school I'll be working at only has ...(insert gasp of horror here) iMacs! And blogs are notorious for looking crappy-ass on Netscape. So if you have any requests/dislikes for the layout, please tell me now.

Saturday, April 21, 2001

zak, don't tempt me to excercise my editing/deleting rights...

Friday, April 20, 2001

Yes, I am going to go teach english to 3yr olds (and also some high schoolers and grown-ups) for at least a year. I would love to see Fosse; are they going to be in tokyo?

For anyone interested, my new address, effective May 8th, is:

Good job posting Linda! I put your icon in for you, so now just hit "edit" under your last post and you will see exactly what you need to type to get it to appear next time. My goal is for y'all to have a grasp on this within a week and 1/2, since I will then be leaving the country and might be unable to have internet access for a while. Personally, I'm not thrilled w/this color scheme and layout, so if anyone has any suggestions please pass them on to me.

Time for another lil' tutorial...who's excited?! Now whenever you have a photo to share w/the rest of us, you can have it appear in the body of your post. Maybe someday in the future I'll make a separate page for photos, but this will have to do in the meantime. There are two ways to get your picture to appear: first, you can email it to me and i'll upload it to my tripod server, and then in your post you would type the same thing you do for your icon, with "/yourpic.gif" at the end instead. The 2nd option is for me to give you the password to my server, so you can upload the picture yourself. In any case, if you have the program to do so, I would request that you resize your image to fit neatly into our post column. If you can't do that on you pc, email it to me and I will resize it. And there you go.

sorry guys, my bad. I forgot that the first thing you type after the first bracket sign is:
img src=, and then the rest of it. And after your name there's a .gif as well. so inside the brackets you have..."http://peabeane.tripod.com/jamie.gif" (if you happen to be jamie). BTW, zak you left out the quote marks too, not that they would've helped. I don't know if you guys have the "edit" option under your own post, but if you do, click it, and you will see exactly what your own image code looks like. I promise this isn't that confusing once you're used to it. Oh, and the reason your icons are showing now is because as administrator, I can edit your posts -- but I promise to use these powers for good and not evil.

This is my little tutorial on how to get your character to appear when you make a post. When you are typing your post, before you start your message you will need to type: "http://peabeane.tripod.com/your name" and by "your name" I mean matt, jamie, linda, etc. And of course the whole thing has to be inside these brackets <>, and the quotation marks are included. For those of you who know how to code html I apologize for stating the obvious.
